Duplicates and counts

Good to know

• The line tools remove duplicates; this page shows them. Same question, opposite answer — and this one tells you how many there were before you decide to remove anything.
• "Extra copies" is lines minus distinct: exactly how many rows would disappear if the list were de-duplicated. "Repeated" counts the entries that appear more than once, not the copies themselves.
• Ignoring case collapses all four I letters before lowercasing, so İSTANBUL, ISTANBUL, ıstanbul and istanbul count as the same entry. ş and ö stay distinct letters.
• Only the first 500 rows are drawn, because a long list costs more to paint than to count. Both Copy buttons take the whole result. Everything happens in your browser — nothing you paste is sent to the server.
