Placeholder image
A plain image at the size you need, labelled with that size, for a layout that is not finished yet.

Good to know
- The label shrinks until it fits, so a long one in a narrow box gets smaller rather than running off both ends. Leaving the box empty writes the size instead, which is what makes a placeholder readable at a glance in a layout full of them.
- "Copy as data URI" gives you the whole image as one line of text, which pastes straight into a src or a CSS background with no file to host. It is about a third larger than the file, which is the cost of writing bytes as characters.
- Sides are capped at 4096 pixels: past that browsers stop returning a canvas at all rather than reporting that it was too big. Everything happens in your browser — nothing is fetched from a placeholder service.
