Columns and lists
Join two lists side by side, or take one column out of a table pasted from a spreadsheet.
\t is a tab, \n a line break. A tab pastes straight into a spreadsheet.
Used when the list on the left is set to "Something else".

Good to know
- A copy out of a spreadsheet is tab separated, which is why tab is the default and why the result of a join pastes straight back into one. Quotes protect a separator inside a cell, the way a CSV file does.
- Joining pads the shorter list with empty cells rather than stopping, so nothing shifts up a row and pairs the wrong two values. If that is not what you want, untick it and the result stops where the shorter list does.
- "Spaces" treats a run of them as one separator rather than as several empty cells, which is what a table lined up by eye needs. Every other choice treats each occurrence as a column boundary.
- Column numbers start at 1. A row that is too short for the column you asked for gives an empty cell, which is left out unless you ask for it. Everything happens in your browser — nothing you paste is sent to the server.
